I'm Sick of Climbing $h*t (Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Remastered)

I made it through the shooting gallery that was Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered. Needless to say I'm glad to be done with that exercise in masochism. And yes, I'm diving in for more. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is next on the play list.

So far the second in the Nathan Drake franchise is a smoother ride than the first, but offers little more than what you expect. You solve a puzzle then you shoot some bad guys. Climb a building, shoot some bad guys. Drive at break-neck speed, shoot some bad guys. Traverse outrageous cliffs and rocky terrain (even Drake laments he's sick of climbing $h*t in this game) and shoot some bad guys. Evade tank and helicopter attacks and--you guessed it-- shoot some bad guys.

If you're looking for a mindless way to pass time or just a shoot 'em up game to prevent a real world postal event then it's rather enjoyable. In fact that's my motto these days: keep expectations low and you'll rarely be disappointed. That being said, I do rather enjoy the voice acting in this series. The actor who plays Drake pegs the sarcastic, devil-may-care attitude and the villains come with the expected British and eastern European accents so again, you get exactly what you think you'll get. And sometimes that's comforting, especially when we're all facing a strange new post-COVID 19 world together.
